Shopping to Travel

We’ve all been there. It’s a few weeks from your next big trip and you realize you don’t have any way to organize your stuff, pack you clothes or generally keep your travel ducks in a rock (or at least in. your suitcase). Then you panic and buy a bunch of junk online, none of which is what you need. So here’s my short list of must-have items for international or any kind of travel. What goes in my suitcase, and what keeps my noggin’ on straight so I don’t forget anything in the packing list.

Medicine Organizer: I have to keep track of several medications (I’m fine, but I’m a cancer survivor and I don’t have a thyroid, so I require some maitenance!). I used to dump all my pills in an empty advil bottle and let me tell you, THAT got annoying real fast. There are gorgeous pill organizers on etsy with preprinted logos, but when you need something quickly and for an excellent price, this guy is fantastic! It comes in a packet of three, or at least mine did, and I still can’t believe how affordable it was. No frills, just a handy pocket pharmacy and it comes in handy every time I travel.

Jewelry Organizer: I used to keep my jewelry in a ziplock bag - I kid you not! You can imagine how tangled everything would get, so this jewelry organizer was the perfect solution for me. Don’t need all that organization? It comes in a smaller size! Click here for the mini version.

Toiletry Organizer: Probably the biggest upgrade prior to my last trip to Greece (September 2023) was my toiletry organizer. It was covered in scratches, had tons of holes and was literally fraying at the handles. So I upgraded to a matching organizer that even goes along with my jewelry organizer, and the makeup bag linked below. I absolutely love this new multi panel organizer, and can recommend it 100%!

Makeup Organizer: I used an IPSY bag for YEARS to carry my makeup, but apart from it being too small, it wasn’t a long term solution for me. This bagsmart Makeup organizer not only matches the other organizers (so I look like an adult with actual matching items), but it is AMAZING how much room this little guy has. I know the tiktok makeup bag has a little panel in the middle, and honestly I don’t miss it. This costs less, and it’s delivered in days not weeks.

Electronic Organizer: Yes, another Bagsmart item. It’s just so stinking cute. Plus, my endless amounts of cords and dongles finally have a place to live, in this handy organizer!

Packing Cubes: AND FINALLY, the end all of organization - packing cubes. Now honestly, a cube is a cube and you should get whatever works for you. But these were sturdier than the last ones I purchased from target, and they color matched with everything else I purchased, so it was a win win. If you use a cube for nothing else, use it for your socks and undies because it’s SO easy for those to get thrown around in the packing process or missed entirely.

Now you may be asking yourself, why these specific items? Because I bought them, used them, and yes - they are affiliate links so if you purchase any of these items I may make a few cents on that purchase. But I’ve been recommending organizational tools for my friends and travel clients for years before I knew what an affiliate link even was - so yes. These are affiliate links, and you can use them or be inspired by them and find your own organizational methods. Do what works best for you.
